Hopping On
To make the initial ascent onto your hoverboard, you’re going to firstly ensure that the device is charged. Depending on the model and make of it, your hoverboard scooter might have a “Beginner” mode for you to start with. If so, definitely make sure it’s set to that. Hoverboards were designed to help you find your balance, so it shouldn’t be too hard, but if you are worried or feel shaky while beginning, hold onto a wall or chair for further assistance. You’re going to start by placing one foot on the hoverboard to mount the scooter. With this foot, level off the hoverboard and find your balance. Once you feel ready and fully balanced, place your other foot on the board. The wider your stance is on the hoverboard, the more stable you are going to feel.
Get Rolling
Hoverboards are built with motion sensors that track which direction you are leaning in and move according to your movements. To make your hoverboard move, you just tilt or lean your body in the direction you are wanting to go. It’s very intuitive — to go forward, lean forward; to move backwards, lean backwards. Sound easy enough? It is! But even the smallest of movements can get the wheels turning fast, so it’s important to be mindful of your movements and feel comfortable before you make any large motions. You’ll probably start out feeling wobbly, but practice, practice, practice and you’ll get the hang of riding your hoverboard in no time.
Learn To Turn
Similar to forward and backward movements, switching directions on your hoverboard is also easy and intuitive. To turn, you simply push your foot. If you’re wanting to go left, push your right foot forward. To go right, push your left foot forward. These small pushes actually twist the hoverboard, which turn the direction of the wheels. When learning how to turn on your hoverboard scooter, you’re going to want to start out slow and easy. And again, practice makes perfect, so the more you try, the easier it’ll be.
